Introduction

Asukai ( (あす) () (), Asukai?) is a high-level inspector.

Appearance

He has a black short hair. He wears a leather-like top with belts attached to them. He also wears a pair of white gloves.

Personality

He has a friendly personality even offering Tsujimura and Ayatsuji some Kyoto pickled veggies after meeting them. He is described by Ayatsuji as having weird antics. However, when it comes to work, Asukai is reliable as he is a high-level inspector who alaways stand at the front lines. He is also a dedicated person, even pursuing Kyōgoku for many years in order to kill him for killing his partner.[1]

Background

He is always at the forefront of investigations and is highly regarded as a professional in the pursuit of heinous crimes. He has been pursuing cases related to Kyōgoku for many years, since his former partner Yui was slaughtered and torn to pieces by Kyōgoku. Since he knows almost all the investigative information about Kyogoku, he was asked to help Yukito Ayatsuji in his investigation.

Plot

Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden: Ayatsuji Yukito VS. Kyōgoku Natsuhiko

Asukai tells Ayatsuji he will kill Kyogoku before he can (Gaiden manga)

Asukai tells Ayatsuji he will kill Kyogoku before he can.

Asukai arrives after being invited by Tsujimura as intel to help them about Kyōgoku. He is then asked by Tsujimura what he witnessed at the said wells two months ago with Ayatsuji's encounter with Kyōgoku. Asukai reveals that Ayatsuji definitely killed Kyōgoku however no body was found after but as soon as he learned the fact that Kyōgoku fell on the waterfalls, he consider that Kyōgoku might fake his death. He finds Kyōgoku not dying of the fall very odd considering Ayatsuji's ability. He also mentions the seventeen-victim massacre that happened at Reigo Island in which 17 people who planned the murder at the area died - of which being Ayatsuji's doing. Hearing this, Ayatsuji tells him that it is already in the past and removes Asukai off the case. However, Asukai stands on his ground saying that he will quit his job if he can't keep his wits with him and the reason he want to catch Kyōgoku is because he killed his partner, Yui and upon finding Kyōgoku, he will kill him. Suddenly, a gas grenade is thrown to them causing the three to run. After managing to hide in an area, Asukai is seen bleeding from his side. [1]
