BEAST: Ryūnosuke Akutagawa vs. Kyōka Izumi is a battle fought between the Armed Detective Agency member Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Port Mafia member Kyōka Izumi.
It happened at the
Prologue[]

Akutagawa kills the Port Mafia soldiers.
Akutagawa charges towards the Port Mafia headquarters after learning about Osamu Dazai's location during the agency's meeting.
Akutagawa is welcomed by countless Mafia soldiers who are armed with guns and grenades. The Mafia soldiers proceed to continuously shoot at Akutagawa however not a single bullet touched Akutagawa. Shortly after, Akutagawa demands for the leader of the Port Mafia to show himself, even killing each of the soldiers to spill the location of their boss.
After a while, Akutagawa reaches the third floor of the building. As he walks down the hallway, a girl who wears kimono appears before himself.

Akutagawa meets Kyōka.
The young girl introduces herself as Kyōka, an assassin with the Port Mafia. However, Akutagawa demands Kyōka to move out of the way tellling that he will kill all those who stand on his way. Kyōka tells Akutagawa that no matter if she lets him pass or not, Akutagawa will eventually have to fight someone. Shortly after, she presses a button on her phone and orders her ability to kill Akutagawa.
Kyōka's ability and Akutagawa soon clash with each other. Akutagawa tries to attack Kyōka using his ability but Demon Snow is able to deflect all of the attacks. During the battle, Akutagawa taunts Kyōka telling that she will never be able to reach him if she keeps defending. Kyōka responds that killing is all she know therefore she will kill him no matter what it takes.

Demon Snow attacks Akutagawa.
Kyōka sprints forward towards Akutagawa and pulls out her dagger. She then deflects all of Akutagawa's attack using her dagger. Out of nowhere, Demon Snow who had blended into the wall and thrusts its sword to Akutagawa, barely slicing open Akutagawa's nose. As a result, Akutagawa loses balance. Akutagawa remembers what Osa told about him having lack of physical strength despite having a powerful ability. With that in mind, Akutagawa just decided to make the battle on abilities and once again tries to attack Kyōka. However, a fist suddenly slams Akutagawa, launching him into air.
Aftermath[]
Atsushi appears on Kyōka's aid telling that he won't let him hurt her. Akutagawa tries to catch his breath after the attack. After a while, Kyōka orders Demon Snow to kill Akutagawa however it doesn't respond. Kyōka realizes that the screen on her phone is black. Suddenly, a voice comes out from nowhere who takes Kyōka's phone away and tells Akutagawa to escape.[1][2]
