Wicked Realms Beyond Mankind, Part 2 Section 1 (人外魔境 其の弐 前編, Jingai Makyō Sono Ni Zenpen?) is the 103rd chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs manga.

Synopsis[]

President Fukuzawa and Ranpo meet with Fukuchi in a tense confrontation. Both sides have made their preparations for this moment, but who will prevail in the end…?[1]

Summary[]

Fukuchi reveals the captured Kunikida and Tanizaki (manga)

Fukuchi reveals the captured Kunikida and Tanizaki.

Fukuchi recalls a time with a fallen comrade in the past, who wished for him to take revenge on the ones responsible for their downfall. Fukuzawa and Ranpo, supposedly to rendezvous with Atsushi, arrive to meet Fukuchi. Fukuzawa asks if he was behind the sudden disconnection with the other Agency members, to which Fukuchi reveals the unconscious Kunikida and Tanizaki both restrained by a biochemical device that keeps them alive while under its influence.

At Fukuzawa's visible rage, Fukuchi asserts that he finds no pleasure in doing such thing, while Ranpo ruminates that they have nevertheless predicted the situation thus far. With their trump card being a booklet written by Poe that would trap Fukuchi in a novel world that restricts him from using Amenogozen, Ranpo is positive that they can capture Fukuchi and secretly reaches into his pocket.

Fukuchi strikes Ranpo from behind (manga)

Fukuchi strikes Ranpo from behind before holding him captive.

However, Fukuchi stabs into Ranpo's hand using Amenogozen's space severance to prevent him from taking out the booklet, having already been warned by his future self about the plan. He then strikes Ranpo behind and takes him as another captive. Fukuzawa finally surmises that Fukuchi's plan is not to destroy nations but a different, ulterior goal, which explains his need for the captives. Cursing their bond, Fukuchi gives his childhood friend a chance to identify his real goal within five minutes; otherwise, he will kill the captives.
