Chapter 17 is the seventeenth chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs (Vertical Comic).

Summary

Dazai stops Atsushi and Akutagawa's battle.

Upon summoning his Rashōmon: Murakumo, Akutagawa charges forward launching his attack to Atsushi when Dazai appears and nullifies both of their abilities. Atsushi transforms back into his human form as he collapsed onto the floor, passed out.

Higuchi recognizes him as an agency member, asking the reason for his appearance at the scene. Dazai pulls out a listening device, Higuchi searches her pockets to find a listening bug, realizing Dazai saw through her plans from the very start, using his offer of double suicide as a distraction to place the bug into her pocket. Dazai smiles, cheerfully confirming Higuchi's statement. Dazai crouches to the passed out Atsushi, nudging for him to get up. Higuchi pulls a gun on him stating that he can't let them go alive.

Akutagawa stops Higuchi from attacking Dazai.

Akutagawa snickers and stops Higuchi telling her that she cannot defeat them. Akutagawa says he will retreat this time, but they will get the man-tiger sooner or later. Dazai asks why, and Akutagawa explains there's a reward of 7 billion yen bounty for Atsushi in the black market. Dazai becomes quite fascinated about the statement. Akutagawa further tells Dazai That they should just hand him over and they'll leave them in peace. Otherwise, it will be war as continued by Dazai. Dazai seriously dares Akutagawa if they succeed in doing so.

Higuchi furrowed her eyebrows in anger, saying the Port Mafia is the underground of the city, having dozens of companies under their control, influence over politics, economics, and many other sectors in the city, and that their agency, with only a handful of people, would only take 3 days for them to eliminate. Dazai scratches the back of his head, seemingly unfazed by her threat, saying he's already aware of such. Akutagawa agrees, saying of course he would know of such as Dazai is an ex-mafia.
