At the Portway to the Sky, Part 5.5 (空ノ港二テ其の伍後編, Sora no Minato nite Sono Go Kōhen?) is the second part of Chapter 95 of the Bungo Stray Dogs manga.

Synopsis[]

Dazai and Dostoevsky begin their jailbreak, and Aya gets to know the vampire she’s sharing a coffin with.[1]

Summary[]

After transporting Fyodor out of his cell, Gogol exclaims at his successfully proven theory of also transporting Dazai out of his cell so long as he, given his nullification ability, does not come in contact with the transfer process. Meanwhile, Sigma is unamused with the clown's theatrics and suggests to instead explain the situation to them.

Gogol proposes Fyodor's and Dazai's prison break duel (manga)

Gogol proposes a prison break duel between Fyodor and Dazai.

Dazai and Fyodor then ask Gogol his intentions, though the latter first grips Fyodor's hand in excitement, claiming that he has missed his friend. He then grimly tells Fyodor that he has come to kill him, albeit much to all the others' apathy. Gogol asserts being conflicted with saving his friend and killing him to achieve genuine freedom. He also voices out the conundrum that he would only be able to prove his animal affections even if he would be able to prove free will as part of instinct by killing Fyodor. Hence, to fulfill both conditions of rescuing Fyodor and intending to kill him, Gogol proposes to have Fyodor and Dazai participate in a prison break duel, which piques the latter two's interest.

Aya asks Bram to tell her about the vampire outbreak (manga)

Aya asks Bram to tell her everything about the vampire outbreak.

Stuck in hiding inside Bram's coffin, Aya is wary about answering Bram's inquiries. He briefly tells her about his ominous and dark past, though she does not understand him. He attempts to enlighten her, but he soon admits indifference to his former grandiose titles and decides to head back to his slumber. Aya, however, interacts with him more and eventually asks his relation with Fukuchi. Contrary to Aya's belief, Bram perceives Fukuchi as an adversary. Filled with newfound hope, Aya then urges Bram to tell her everything that occurred, which Bram begrudgingly agrees to.

Fukuchi finds Bram's coffin empty (manga)

Fukuchi finds Bram's coffin empty.

Fukuchi is frustrated about his failure to use One Order, deciding to switch tactics and initiate war instead. Thinking of launching various arsenals of weapons and levels of troops like those during world wars, Fukuchi is confident to achieve such plan as long as he has Bram in his clutches. He then arrives to fetch Bram, only to appallingly find his coffin empty; Aya has carried Bram on her back and runs away in escape.
