- This article is about the Port Mafia executive. For the French armed force officer, see Colonel.
The Colonel (大佐, Taisa?) was a Port Mafia executive who possessed an unnamed matter-manipulation ability.
Appearance[]
He was an old, stout man with a body like a colossal tree trunk with dense arms and had bristly, needle-like hair. He wore a tattered, faded military uniform, a judo belt, and tall wooden clogs.
Personality[]
The Colonel was quite a competent and capable individual, considered as one of the Mafia's aces and became one of their executives. As a survivor of the Great War, he was assumably an adept fighter and possibly an able leader. He also tended to be confident in battle as seen when fighting Paul Verlaine, more so with the several mafiosi and allies he had against the King of Assassins.[1]
Ability[]
- Main article: Matter-Manipulation Ability
He possessed the ability to manipulate matter, which Chūya Nakahara once noted made the Colonel unbeatable.[2] His ability allowed him to liquefy mass and manipulate it,[1] such as bending the ground beneath him to his will.[2]
Background[]
The Great War[]
The Colonel was once a soldier who participated in and survived the war. At an unknown point of time, he became one of the Port Mafia's five executives.
King of Assassins Incident[]
During Verlaine's assassination attempt on Ōgai Mori, the Colonel was part of the ambush force prepared by Osamu Dazai that fought the assassin. Using his ability, the Colonel liquefied the ground to impede Verlaine's movement, which worked to an extent and proved to be a challenge to the assassin.[1]
Dragon's Head Conflict[]
On the 70th day of the Dragon's Head Conflict, the Colonel was found dead by the Mafia, whom Dazai reported to Chūya to have been killed by a man known as the Pale Qilin.
Legacy[]
With the Colonel's death, one of the executive seats opened. Aspiring executive Dazai pointed out to Chūya about their opportunity to grab the title, which earned the latter's rage at Dazai for apparently taking the matter lightly.[3]
Quotes[]
- (To Paul Verlaine) "Gah-ha-ha! Run, boy. Run. The only reason a kid like you has survived this long is for my entertainment. Now, hurry up and die. I want that head of yours."[1]
