Doppo Kunikida and Atsushi Nakajima vs. armed children is a skirmish fought between Armed Detective Agency members Doppo Kunikida and Atsushi Nakajima against a group of armed children during the Cannibalism strategy.
It happened in a tunnel that serves as an underground escape route of a fake Alexander Pushkin, whose siblings engage the two detectives as instructed and orchestrated by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Prologue[]
Following the outbreak of a feud between the Agency and the Port Mafia after Yukichi Fukuzawa and Ōgai Mori are afflicted with a virus, Ranpo Edogawa has Kunikida and Atsushi set out to catch Pushkin, the alleged virus ability user, to have him deactivate his ability.
Upon their arrival at the hideout, Fyodor contacts Pushkin of the pursuers on his doorstep. Pushkin then leaves matters to his younger siblings and escapes the hideout. Kunikida catches sight of Pushkin, and they end up going down an underground escape tunnel.
Battle[]
Atsushi taps on his tiger speed to capture the fleeing culprit, but a bullet shoots straight towards him. He turns out to have caught the bullet with his teeth, but they soon come face to face with a group of five children armed with submachine guns, who block the detectives' path to let Pushkin escape.
The children fire at Kunikida and Atsushi, who are forced to take cover. Atsushi is conflicted that they might kill the children if they retaliate against them with their abilities, a situation that fuels Kunikida's indignation, more so because they are left with no choice but to proceed with their course rather than turn back.
Kunikida soon resorts to materialize a tear gas bomb and tosses it at the children. As he and Atsushi proceed while holding their breaths, a masked child attempts to shoot them from behind, but Kunikida inadvertently shoots the child's shoulder first, much to Kunikida's shock. Eventually, as they get past the children, Kunikida and Atsushi find the situation quite bizarre and hellish, as they have been expecting a counterattack from the virus ability user instead of armed children.
Aftermath[]
They are almost immediately faced with yet another challenge when they come across a girl strapped with grenades, threatening to detonate them for the sake of helping her "older brother". Kunikida asks Atsushi to capture Pushkin, while he is left to deal with the girl. In the end, Atsushi finds out upon restraining Pushkin that he is a fake one, while Kunikida is unable to save the girl after she ends up detonating the grenades. This incident overcomes Kunikida with intense horror that apparently challenges his ideals and, at the same time, marks a success in Fyodor's plans, proving his message that the Agency cannot ever change the rules.[1][2]
