Marshland / Afternoon / Cloudy ③ (湿地帯／昼過ぎ／曇天 ③, Shitchi-tai / Hirusugi / Donten ③?) is the third part of the 3rd chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden manga.

Ango orders Tsujimura to gather intel on Kyōgoku.
Ango gives orders to Tsujimurato gather intel about Natsuhiko Kyōgoku after learning that he is alive. Eighteen hours later at a suburban sewage treatment plant, Ayatsuji arrives and meets up with Tsujimura who upon arriving tells that the meeting should be better be worth it. Tsujimura then tells that they have found the code inside the well. which reveals a set of numbers.

Ayatsuji meets up with Tsujimura.
Tsujimura points out that the Special Division for Unusual Powers has been trying to decipher the code but to no luck. However, Ayatsuji immediately deciphers the set of numbers on the pot. After teasing Tsujimura to use her brain in order to figure out the code, Ayatsuji reveals that the set of numbers forms an ISBN and the number points to an English language book.

Asukai arrives and greets Tsujimura.
After searching on the internet, Tsujimura informs Ayatsuji that the number points out to the first edition of the The Selfish Gene from the Oxford University Press by Richard Dawkins published in 1976 or in Japanese by Rikoteki na Idenshi. Ayatsuji then points it out as suprising which made Tsujimura asks what kind of book is it. Ayatsuji tells that it a treatise on genes ans memes. Tsujimura proceeds to asks as to why Kyōgoku care about that book.
Just then, inspector Asukai arrives and greets them. Tsujimura immediately greets and thanks him for coming. Meanwhile, Asukai gives some pickled veggies to Tsujimura and approaches Ayatsuji and gives him also. Ayatsuji then asks if Asukai have their intel. Tsujimura begins to inform Ayatsuji about Asukai being a high level inspector who have pursued Kyōgoku for years and asks him what happened back at the falls.

Tsujimura recalls about Ango telling him about "singularity".
Asukai reveals that when Ayatsuji for certain killed Kyōgoku, they didn't somehow find a body at the locate. Asukai, same as the two, is confsed as how Kyōgoku survived the fall and asks Ayatsuji is he has any idea why to which the latter responds that he doesn't know.
Tsujimura then expresses what suprises her most thar Kyōgoku survived Ayatsuji's ability. While trying to make up the reason, Tsujimura unconsciously speaks about singularity. Asukai then finds Kyōgoku not dying odd as he recalls the Reigo Island seventeen victim massacre.

Ayatsuji then tells Asukai off the case telling that Kyōgoku will target him next. Asukai stands firm telling that Kyōgoku killed his partner Yui and he will kill Kyōgoku before Ayatsuji can.
Just then, a gas grenade is thrown inside their location. Asukai leads them to a safe place. After successfully escaping, Tsujimura tries to make a solution however Ayatsuji dismisses the idea telling that they have already been surrounded outside. Tsujimura notices Asukai bleeding from the side due to the shooting. While Tsujimura tends to Asukai, Ayatsuji tells the two that he has an idea to get out of the place.
