Ministry of Justice / Morning / Sunny ② (司法省本館/朝/晴天 ②, Shihōshō Honkan / Asa / Seiten ②?) is the second part of the 4th chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden manga.

Summary[]

Sakashita meets Ayatsuji and Tsujimura (Gaiden manga)

Sakashita meets Ayatsuji and Tsujimura.

Tsujimura is unable to answer Ayatsuji's question, who instead directs their current focus on Kyōgoku and locate the Engineer's location. Sakashita, the deputy director of the Ministry of Justice, arrives and greets Ayatsuji, though Tsujimura is wary of the man. Sakashita compliments Ayatsuji on his dangerous yet admirable ability and invites him over tea.

Tsujimura interrupts and assures Sakashita that Ayatsuji has no relation to the incident whatsoever and takes responsibility for the incident, but the deputy director shuts her down that the Special Division for Unusual Powers is to blame for the incident, whom he believes is making use of the abilities-not-being-harmful agenda to monopolize their privilege and status. Tsujimura tries to reprove his claim, but Sakashita takes his leave, musing how the police forces' deaths fell on such convenient timing.

Sakashita's hostility towards the Special Division (Gaiden manga)

Sakashita's hostility towards the Special Division.

Tsujimura understands why the Ministry of Justice is in a hostile relationship with the Special Division, since the latter has certain jurisdiction over ability-related matters that the Ministry cannot interfere in. She then attempts to call out to Sakashita once more, but Ayatsuji stops her. Nonetheless, seeing her persistence, Ayatsuji agrees to do her a favor.

Ayatsuji turns to Sakashita and "corrects" the report, stating that the police officer was shot on the right chest, contrary to what Sakashita claimed to have read in the report that stated decapitation. Ayatsuji then reveals how it was indeed decapitation, exposing the deputy director that he did not read only the summary but rather the entire report, since he can use it against his opponent after all. Moreover, Ayatsuji surmises how the man who manipulated the special forces into thinking there was a killer posing as government officials in the building, is the same person who plotted against Ayatsuji's team and can likewise even manipulate government officials into taking down the Special Division.

Ayatsuji reveals Sakashita's doings (Gaiden manga)

Ayatsuji exposes Sakashita.

Sakashita denies being possibly manipulated; Ayatsuji claims that he must have been restrained before if he were indeed being manipulated by Kyōgoku, but Sakashita denies it again. To extract the truth, Ayatsuji suggests having Sakashita's memories be read by an agent from the Special Division. Ayatsuji soon reveals how Sakashita commissioned him to dispose of his rivals before whom he knows were guilty of crimes, thereby being affected and killed off by Ayatsuji's ability. Sakashita dismisses his claims as nonsense and dashes off in a panic.

Ayatsuji and Tsujimura see Sakashita's body cut in half (Gaiden manga)

Sakashita's severed torso.

Tsujimura feels relieved with Ayatsuji's intervention, but he reminds her that Sakashita now has a personal grudge against her, especially in her oncoming trial. In other words, he deduces that she is well on her way to getting fired. Tsujimura immediately chases Sakashita to an elevator, which suddenly triggers an explosion after the deputy director accesses it with his card. Ayatsuji asks Tsujimura to retrieve Sakashita inside the elevator; however, as soon as she grabs the deputy director, the elevator collapses and falls down its pit.

When Tsujimura gains consciousness, Ayatsuji tells her that she was able to save only Sakashita's upper torso, his lower body having separated from it. Ayatsuji recalls how the "next victim shall be bitten by the mizuchi to death", realizing that Kyōgoku's ominous hint has just been fulfilled.
