Ministry of Justice / Morning / Sunny ③ (司法省本館/朝/晴天 ③, Shihōshō Honkan / Asa / Seiten ③?) is the third part of the 4th chapter of the Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden manga.
Summary[]
Upon receiving a phone call, Asukai senses it to be a matter related to death. His team soon arrives at the Ministry of Justice's underground car park and meets Ayatsuji and Tsujimura. Asukai then worries for the media about Sakashita's tragic demise, while Ayatsuji deduces the elevator fall to be murder directed on Sakashita rather than system failure. He points out how the elevator panel has been tampered with, which signaled Sakashita's card to trigger the elevator to fall. Ayatsuji also thinks how the culprit is quite talented and careful in masking any chemical smell.
Asukai asks Ayatsuji whether he knows how to go forward in the investigation, to which the detective is confident that such incident is still Kyōgoku's doing, consistent with his games since the well incident and the botulinum murder. Ayatsuji then analogizes that the culprits who acted on their own will through Kyōgoku's manipulations, similar to how a knife craftsman is not guilty of someone who killed using said knife, cannot be affected by Another. In other words, Kyōgoku's crimes shall never be tried nor can he be directly considered guilty.
Nonetheless, though Ayatsuji knows how Kyōgoku possibly does not take the Special Division for Unusual Powers lightly, he wonders why Kyōgoku persists on his guiltless murders. Tsujimura suggests that it might be a challenge directed solely for Ayatsuji. He then proposes to inspect the CCTV footage the moment the elevator was being checked, thinking that the culprit must have been acting during such time.
