Master Carlyle (師匠 カーライル Shishō Kārairu?) is a legendary craftsman and the one who made Kunikida''s notebook.
Appearance[]
Master Carlyle is an old man with slicked-back gray hair and a mustache. He is seen wearing a black suit over a sage polo and a brown necktie. He is also seen wearing a round hat and a brown suitcase.[1]
Personality[]
Nothing is known about his personality, but he is seen to have a modest and polite expression, even modestly holding his hat.
Plot[]
Bungo Stray Dogs: Hitori Ayumu[]
He is invited by Dazai to the agency office in an attempt for Dazai to ruin Kunikida's ideal schedule for the day. Dazai then calls Kunikida and informs him that the artisan who made his notebooks is at the agency office. Much to Kunikida's excitement, the train suddenly arrives and orders Dazai to tell Master Carlyle he has the utmost respect for him - the reason for not being able to meet him.

- He may be named after the Scottish essayist and philosopher Thomas Carlyle who was influential to the Japanese naturalism movement and one of the authors which Doppo Kunikida read.[2]
