Mizuki Tsujimura ( (つじ) (むら) () (ずき), Tsujimura Mizuki?) is the assistant director of the Special Division for Unusual Powers and the mother and namesake of Mizuki Tsujimura. A prolific agent in her field, she eventually decided to fake her death with the help of Yukito Ayatsuji in the wake of the Reigo Island massacre. She wielded the ability Yesterday's Shadow Tag, which she passed down to her daughter.[1]

Appearance[]

Assistant Director Tsujimura is a middle-aged woman around 40 to 50 years old. She has light-colored eyes and short black hair with silver streaks, held back by a simple hairband. Due to a past mission, she has a small scar on her right ear. While working in the Special Division, she usually wore a pale blue sweater,[1] while she wore an office attire in the past during instances recalled by Tsujimura[2] and Ayatsuji.[3]

Personality[]

From Tsujimura's perspective for someone who was mostly absent during her childhood, Tsujimura thought that her mother did not perceive her like a daughter. However, the assistant director did not entirely lack feelings for her daughter. She passed down and ordered her own ability to kill anyone her daughter wishes to kill, so as not to let Tsujimura kill someone, possibly to have her avoid the dread of killing. Additionally, even upon faking her death, she places her trust in a few people to look after her daughter, one of which includes Ayatsuji.

As the assistant director of a highly specialized organization, she is apparently quite capable in her profession. Despite not taking the center stage most of the time as such (and because of her public status as a deceased person), Ayatsuji notes how she pulls the strings behind the shadows, almost similar to a director. She is also quite calculating and perceptive, noticing Ayatsuji's lies in his report and—despite him not openly admitting and dismissing her claims—deducing his true situation given the circumstances.

Ability[]

Main article: Yesterday's Shadow Tag

The assistant director's ability, Yesterday's Shadow Tag (きのうの (かげ) ()み, Kinō no Kagefumi?), summons the "Shadow Child" (影の仔, Kage no Ko?), an ability-derived life-form that takes up the ambiguous form of a bipedal, goat-horned beast with a black scythe. The assistant director utilized her ability in the past with skilled proficiency to slaughter countless gifted criminals and foreign spies, eventually making the Shadow Child reek of death.

Similar to Kyōka Izumi's case,[4] she transferred her ability to her daughter with the order to have it "murder anyone Tsujimura tries to kill."[1]

Background[]

She was a very skilled agent in the past, and during most of Tsujimura's childhood, she was mostly out and busy with her job. She would usually only leave notes for Tsujimura and have a nanny take care of her daughter. Because of her profession, she made countless of enemies, forcing her to go into hiding.

Reigo Island Seventeen-Victim Massacre[]

Main article: Reigo Island Seventeen-Victim Massacre

Around this time, she made a deal with Ayatsuji to fake her death in exchange for sparing his life. He then used the Reigo Island massacre to make it look like she perished in the incident. Since then, she successfully went into hiding, with only a few knowing of her existence.
