Rashōmon (
Description[]
Main[]
Rashōmon enables Akutagawa to freely manipulate the shape and properties of his clothing. Akutagawa usually transforms his black coat into sharp blades that can easily slash off limbs or into a dragon-like beast which is said to consume anything, even space itself. This allows Akutagawa to create an impenetrable shield that can block incoming attacks, such as gunfire and punches, since the space that they would normally have to cross to reach Akutagawa has been consumed.[1][2] However, its space-rupturing capabilities needs time to activate, so taking advantage of this can give the enemy a window of opportunity to attack.[3]
Rashōmon can also be used to increase Akutagawa's mobility, such as elevating himself into the air or using his coat like a grappling hook to propel himself to otherwise unreachable locations. Akutagawa can also freely pull himself out from his overcoat to free himself when faced in a dangerous situation.[2]
It is also capable of digging and slicing the ground so it can be used for stealth purposes,[4] can serve as a foothold for attacks,[5] can be used as a tool to restrain someone,[4][6][7] using the ability's fabric as a cast to set his broken bone,[7] or basically a tool to slice other things such as a fire extinguisher as a defense in a battle.[8]
Types[]
- Rashōmon: Agito (
羅 生 門 ・顎 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Jaws"): Rashōmon is shaped into the form of a jaw to crush the target.[1] - Rashōmon: Murakumo (
羅 生 門 ・叢 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Swarm"): Rashōmon becomes a gigantic clawed appendage that extends from Akutagawa's arm. It can be used to carry out an attack.[1] - Rashōmon: Higanzakura (
羅 生 門 ・彼 岸 桜 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Early Blooming Cherry Blossoms"): Rashōmon changes to a tendril-like form, wrapping around the target and lifting him up high in the air. Once at an appropriate height and distance, Rashōmon explodes into several finely-developed flower spikes.[3] - Rashōmon: Sawarabi (
羅 生 門 ・早 蕨 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Freshly Budded Bracken"): Several spikes spring up from the ground to thoroughly impale the target.[3] - Rashōmon: Gokumon Agito (
羅 生 門 ・獄 門 顎 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Prison Gate Jaws"): A variation of Rashōmon: Agito, considerably smaller in size.[3] - Rashōmon: Renmon Agito (
羅 生 門 ・連 門 顎 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Endless Gate Jaws"): Another variation of Rashōmon: Agito. Akutagawa materializes several Rashōmon Jaws to deal with a devastating attack.[9] - Rashōmon: Kurohatō (
羅 生 門 ・黒 波 濤 ,?): Rashōmon splits into several tendrils, possibly capable of striking down the opponent in numerous whip-like attacks.[10] - Rashōmon: Tenma Tengai (
羅 生 門 ・天 魔 纏 鎧 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Demon Wearing Armor"): Akutagawa wraps himself with an exoskeleton-like armor using the black fabric.[11][12] - Rashōmon: Tenma Agito (
羅 生 門 ・天 魔 顎 ,? lit. "Rashōmon: Demonic Jaws"): While Akutagawa is wrapped in his exoskeleton Rashōmon armor, he directs his power to his arms that take the form and force of Rashōmon: Agito, used mainly for defense.[2] - Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon (
月 下 獣 羅 生 門 , Gekka-jū Rashōmon?): While Atsushi activates Beast Beneath the Moonlight, he is wrapped by Rashōmon.[13]- Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon: Toramurakumo (
月 下 獣 羅 生 門 ・虎 叢 , Gekka-jū Rashōmon: Tora Murakumo?): Atsushi's tiger claw is wrapped in Rashōmon and enhances its offensive power, enough to overwhelm a fully-powered Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.[14] - Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon: Black Tiger's Supreme Claw (
月 下 獣 羅 生 門 ・黒 虎 絶 爪 , Gekka-jū Rashōmon: Kokko Zessō?): Using the tiger's claws that can cut through abilities themselves and Rashōmon, Atsushi can stretch out that severed space and cut through physical armor and abilities. As it morphs into a divine blade,[13] Akutagawa claims that no life form can possibly survive this attack.[15]

BEAST[]
Rashōmon allows Akutagawa to manipulate any clothing he wears. He can transform it into a blade that can easily cut a person's limb, remove someone's guts or overall slice through someone's body. Moreover, Akutagawa can use his Rashōmon to do long range attacks such as throwing grenade to the enemies.[16] Akutagawa can also use Rashōmon to restrain someone or catch a falling object easily.[17]
He can also use it for other purposes, such as knowing if a diamond is real by checking its quality from the outside,[16] easily plant rice at the fields,[18] for interrogation purposes,[19] use it as a slide for children to play with.[20]
Despite being a strong ability with offensive and defensive capabilities, Rashōmon is no match for Dazai's No Longer Human as it can be easily nullified upon contact with the latter.[16] It is also seen to be no match against Oda's ability as the latter can always predict Akutagawa's attacks against him and have once defeated Akutagawa upon their meeting. This eventually resulted to Akutagawa asking Oda to train for him to become strong.[21]
Types[]
- Rashōmon: Ishiyumi (
羅 生 門 ・弩 ,?)[note 1]: Fabric blades can emerge from Akutagawa's body that can pierce through someone's body similar to a spear or a slingshot. Once pierced, the fabric blades can be twisted and expanded by Akutagawa.[22][23] - Rashōmon: Bite of the Silver Wolf (
羅 生 門 ・銀 狼 咬 , Rashōmon: Ginrōkō?): It allows Akutagawa to transform his overcoat's sleeve into a head of a giant wolf, capable of biting down an opponent's flesh. The silver wolf also has the ability to grow larger and grow more fangs.[24][23] - Rashōmon: Ibara (
羅 生 門 ・棘 , Rashōmon: Thorns"?): Numerous thorns can emerge from Akutagawa's overcoat, which can be used for defense against opponents.[24][23] - Rashōmon: Misty Rain (
羅 生 門 ・霧 雨 , Rashōmon: Kirisame?): Countless fine threadlike blades will shot out from Akutagawa's entire body. The extremely fine needles have the power to cut through space itself. Akutagawa can summon a shower of needles that can pierce a wall's exterior and are capable of crushing concrete.[23][25] - Rashōmon: Dragon Drill Spear (
羅 生 門 ・龍 泉 荘 , Rashōmon: Ryūsensō?): Every fiber fabric on Akutagawa's body bursts forth and twists around his arms.[25][23] - Rashōmon: Silver Torrent (
羅 生 門 ・銀 絶 波 擣 , Rashōmon: Ginzetsu Hatō?): It allows the fiber fabric blades wrapped around Akutagawa's arms to expand and transform, which allows his ability to undergo phase transition when the energy it produces interferes with the physical constant of the surrounding space around it, causing shock waves.[23][25]
