The Resurrection Arc (復活編, Fukkatsu-hen?) is the tenth and current story arc in Bungo Stray Dogs. It focuses on the eponymous resurrection of Fyodor Dostoevsky through his ability and the setting into motion of his plan of eliminating all of the world's ability users.

Synopsis[]

Following his premature victory at Meursault, Dazai deduces Dostoevsky's ability of transforming into his killer. After being revived and absorbing Bram's body as his own, Dostoevsky crafts the fourth-dimensional Divine Being: Ame-no-Gozen from the Holy Sword Soluz Levni, Shintō Amenogozen, and Fukuchi's body, which aids him in his ultimate goal of purging all ability users. With Atsushi's allies culled one by one, his ties to the Book are gradually unearthed, with Dostoevsky revering the Tiger as its "bookmark."

Summary[]

Uncovering Dostoevsky's Past and Ability[]

After using his ability on Dostoevsky, Sigma is caught in the Conjurer's memories, including his arrest and execution upon orders of Bram back in ancient times.[1][2] He also discovers that the soldier who carried out Dostoevsky's execution was absorbed by and had turned into Dostoevsky himself.[3]

With Sigma not awakening after the entire jailbreak ordeal, Dazai worries about the possibly excessive amount of information Sigma acquired from Dostoevsky. Eventually, from their past encounters and upon checking that Dostoevsky's corpse in the helicopter crash ruins bears a different face,[2] Dazai deduces that Dostoevsky's ability is activated upon his death, which is to transform into the person who kills him.

The Conjurer Resurrected[]

Following Fukuchi's defeat at the hands of Fukuzawa and Teruko, Bram—the primary individual in control over the vampire pilot who killed Dostoevsky at Meursault—transforms into Dostoevsky, resurrecting him. With a barely-alive Fukuchi at his mercy, Dostoevsky stabs him with Ame-no-Gozen and the Holy Sword,[3] creating the incarnate singularity Ame-no-Gozen.

Ame-no-Gozen Strikes[]

With its divine nature and powers under Dostoevsky's command, Ame-no-Gozen swiftly overpowers Teruko and apparently absorbs her.[4] It next launches a large-scale attack at the airport, prompting Fitzgerald to have Alcott execute their final protocol plan. Fukuzawa also instructs Atsushi to prevent Dostoevsky from escaping,[5] but Kunikida and Tanizaki are both cornered and soon absorbed by Ame-no-Gozen, killing them.[6] Kenji, initially aided by Tetchō, also perishes at Ame-no-Gozen's hands.[7]

Meanwhile, Bram musters his remaining strength to borrow Akutagawa's body temporarily and bid his final farewell to Aya.[5] When his time is over, Bram passes away and entrusts Aya's safety to Akutagawa, now apparently back to being human.[6] At the same time, Dostoevsky reveals that Atsushi, specifically the White Tiger within him, is the "bookmark" towards the Book and invites him to join him in his schemes. However, Atsushi repulses Dostoevsky with his unbecoming desperation and pleas to save his Agency comrades in exchange, leading the latter to change plans and take the Tiger without Atsushi in tow.

Akutagawa, who appears to bear no memories of Atsushi, carries out Bram's order and battles almost at par with Ame-no-Gozen,[8] though he is ultimately incapacitated by the Divine Being.[9] Fukuzawa heavily accosts Dostoevsky for trashing Gen'ichirō's dream of uniting humanity and attaining world peace, which Dostoevsky deems futile. Instead, the Conjurer aims to eliminate all ability users in a world war against humans, thereby "uniting humanity" in the process. He also conjures a second Ame-no-Gozen form who kills and absorbs Fukuzawa.[10]

At some point later, about two hours after Fukuchi's prior defeat, Atsushi and Akutagawa battle Ame-no-Gozen together.[11]
