Sakunosuke Oda vs. Sniper is a battle fought between Port Mafia member Sakunosuke Oda and an unknown sniper.
It happened during a Oda's order to find Ango Sakaguchi, Port Mafia's intelligence officer.
Prologue[]
Oda is summoned by Mori in order to find Port Mafia's intelligence officer, Ango Sakaguchi as the he have gone missing. Mori proceeds to take out a silver leaf-inlaid Echizen paper and writes a message to the document known as Silver Oracle. Oda then accepts the paper and heads out for his mission.
Oda soon proceeds to trace Ango by visiting Ango's residence. However, he soon remembers that Oda is usually out of town for business and usually drifts from hotel to hotel. Oda began to call hotels with ties with the Port Mafia and finds Ango's past residence on the third hotel he called. After receing a room key from the manager who formerly realized whom Oda works for, Oda heads to Ango's suite.
Battle[]
Oda begins to canvas the room Ango used to lived in. He suddenly finds an odd stool placed at the center of the room. He flips it in hopes of finding clues on Ango's whereabouts but unfortunately didn't find any. After thoroughly scanning the room, he finds a ceiling air vent. He reaches for the ceiling air event using the stool and manages to open it. There he pulls and finds a white safe which is locked, but Oda can't find the key of it anywhere. He tries to know what's inside by rattling it and finds that something metal is inside of it.
Shortly after, a vision plays inside his head in which he was shot by a sniper from the outside, shattering the window. After his vision ended, Oda swiftly threw himself to the carpeted floor with the safe still in his hands and the windows suddenly shatters. Oda moves away from the window and grabs a mirror to fully see the culprit - a sniper.
Oda rushes outside to know the identity of the sniper and contacts Dazai and tells him about someone trying to attack him. Oda gives him the possible locations as to where the sniper fled. Soon after, Oda arrives at a narrow alley. He is then attacked by a man with a knife. Oda engages in battle with the man dressed in tattered gray clothes. Soon after, the sniper appears behind Oda. He is cornered by the two enemies. He tosses the safe aside and aims his two guns to the enemies. Shortly after, Dazai orders Oda to get down. The Port Mafia manages to arrive and kill the two enemies.
Aftermath[]
Dazai and Oda learn about the enemy's identity, Mimic. Dazai opens the safe and finds a gun similar to Mimic's emblem.
Novel and Anime Differences[]
- In the novel, Oda originally grabs a mirror to see the reflection of the sniper.[1]In the anime, Oda just peeks through the window.[2]
- In the novel, Oda originally aims his guns to both the enemies, tossing the safe aside.[1]In the anime, he still carries the safe while pointing his gun to the enemy with a knife only.[2]
- Moreover, Oda's battle with the man with a knife is much longer in the novel.[1]
